Member Eligibility

Membership is open to:

  • Any active or retired employee of the Chicago Postal Service
  • Immediate family members (spouse, child or parents) of active or retired employees of the Chicago Postal Service

It only takes a few minutes to complete the online application or you can stop by a branch to speak with a Member Services Representative to apply.* Membership requires a $25 deposit into your Savings account. This deposit represents your share of ownership in the credit union, and will remain in your account as long as you are a member.

Once a member, you are a member for life – even if you change jobs, retire or relocate!

*IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT — To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.

What is a Credit Union?

A credit union is a not-for-profit cooperative financial institution, owned and controlled by its members. Credit unions serve people who share a common bond, such as where they work, live, or go to school or church. Members combine their savings to create a pool of funds from which any member can borrow. Interest earned on loans and investments is returned to members in the form of higher savings rates, lower loan rates, and additional products and services. Not only do credit unions provide tailored financial services to meet members’ needs, they also provide excellent service and a more personal approach to banking.

Credit Unions vs. Banks – How Do They Compare?

Credit Unions Banks
Not-for-profit Profit returned to investors/shareholders
Owned and operated by members Owned by investors/shareholders who have no part in everyday operations
Members vote on Board of Directors at Annual Meeting, who volunteer their services Board of Directors chosen by management and compensated for services
